Presto Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener Review

Electric knife sharpeners can be prone to not really working very well, so I was initially a little hesitant about buying the Presto Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener. But, it was getting some good reviews online and was being sold at a pretty irresistible price, so I thought “what the hell”, and gave it a shot.

If you’re wanting an electric knife sharpener for yourself, then this article is for you. Here I’m going to review the Presto Pro EverSharp and let you know whether I think it’s something worth considering. Hopefully this will help you come to a decision of your own:

My impression after the first use of this thing was “WOW!” This thing is surprisingly good. I almost wasn’t expecting much considering how inexpensive it is but, seriously, it works like a charm. I tried it on some old kitchen knives of mine that I thought had just about given up and were beyond useless. Well, what can I say? They’re now better than they were when I bought them brand new!

The professional grade sapphirite sharpening wheels really are professional. The guides on the machine automatically hold the knife blade at the right angle which make using it a piece of cake, and you just let the machine take care of everything. It first sharpens, then hones the blades and within a matter of minutes your knives are better than new.

One thing I would say is that the sharpening stage can take quite a lot of metal off the blade, so you just need to bare this in mind. If you push down too hard then you’ll grind away at your knife a considerable amount after a few uses. This is more just something that you should take into consideration when using the device. In fact if you push down far too hard then it can actually stop the sharpening wheels. I first looked at this as a bad thing in that the motor wasn’t powerful enough, but now, taking into account how much metal it would take off, I look at it as more of a warning mechanism.

The build quality could be better. It’s made in China and is very affordable, so you kind of get what you pay for. If you want a more “solid” machine then you can find yourself spending extremely big bucks for a product that will give you the exact same end result as this thing.

Overall, for the price and the end result this electric knife sharpener gives you, it’s a fantastic product. Seriously, after running your knives through this thing just once, you’ll wonder how you ever coped before! It does what it is designed to do and it does it well, just perhaps the build quality could be improved slightly. As I say though, you kind of get what you pay for, and the build quality is nothing that would turn me off given how much I paid for it, and ultimately the results it gave me with my knives. I definitely recommend the Presto Pro EverSharp, you’ll never look back.
